Keld Helmer-Petersen: Black Light
Keld Helmer-Petersen was a Danish photographer. He made his breakthrough in 1948 when he published 122 Colour Photographs this is a collection of experiments with shapes inspired by Albert Renger-Patzsch. Helmer-Petersen created and found these images, using both cameras and flat bed scanners to achieve the effects he was looking for. These books are designed to encourage viewers to consider the space around the image and the text as integral to the meaning of the work. His books brought modernism to Danish photography. Due to this he earned a grant for a year's study at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1950.

My favourite imageThis one image of Helmer-Petersen stands out for me because its ever so simple yet so effective. You can clearly see what the image is which is 3 paper clips combined together. However the fact its so simple means that you focus on the black lines and the shapes that form the paper clip making the image so successful.
