Trip to Tate Britain
On Monday 9th February 2015, 12D visited Tate Britain to work with artist Anna Lucas and academic Nick Addison. We had been invited by the gallery to spend a day engaging with Anna's practice and responding to various works of art, thinking about the role of affect. This blog post explains the full context of the visit.

Firstly, we watched Anna's most recent film entitled 'Opi 21 OOpsy,Tiger Lily'
It was interesting to see the images juxtaposed with one another. They were selected by chance and cropped by iMovie so the relationships are random. The human brain enjoys seeing patterns and making sense of the visible world so, even though no thought was given to the arrangement of the images, it is possible to see some remarkable connections.
The pairings are different in the second half of the slideshow so your brain has to adjust to the different arrangements. We displayed the film on a loop in the gallery so it was possible to return to the images repeatedly. Anna told us that this is often the way she likes to display her film pieces. |
