Conceptual Photography
Conceptual photography is a term that describes a type pf photographic practice in which ideas are paramount. Photographic images tend to be preconceived. This practice emerged in the 1960s at a time when artists took to photography to document performances or actions as well as to pose questions about the nature of art and images.
The following artists/photographers have all produced work which could be described as conceptual. Take a look at their work and practices. Select ONE artist to research in detail to help you consider the next phase of your personal project on the theme of 'Contrast'. as the un sets, take 100 pictures, take 100 pics at the same time each day for 10 days means i will get the 1000, can then look at the difference

Rosie Hardy - Analogy
I think that for the image on the left with the rose coming out of the girls mouth it could be that she is, maybe growing up and spouting into her true self. This is because she looks rather young and as she is wearing a different outfit that you might not see in every day life it could suggest that this is her passion for whatever it is she likes doing. This passion was found as she grew up like the flowing growing inside of her and finally sprouting. This image could also suggest that her voice is beautiful, being compared to a rose which is often used in romance, maybe she is a sweet talker and charms the lads with her voice, or shes simply a good singer suggested by her outfit.
In the middle image I think that the image being monochrome makes the picture seem very negative, this works along side the nose bleed that the woman has. From this I thought that this could suggest that she lives in a country without peace, or maybe her life style has a lot of violence in it so she is trying to clean up the blood by getting a wash, but shes still bleeding suggesting things will never change. This image could also be used to represent stress, she is constantly stressed which is causing the nose bleeds. The stress has also caused all of the colour in the image to fade away and look lifeless, not even the blood has colour to it.
In the last and final image the girl looks frightened as there is no smile, scared of what she could become which is a chain smoker and live a life in pain when the results come in that maybe shes became really ill to smoking, or that she has a smoking related incident while driving in the future. The fact she is such a young age with a cigarette could also suggest that habits start at such a young and that she is very vulnerable to them, she would of got that cigarette from her parents or an older sibling meaning that she will probably be a smoker when shes older. This image could also be a warning to people who smoke, when we look at the picture we see a little girl smoking but we don't actually know if she is, or if shes just holding it or not. Either way, we as a viewer are frightened by the thought of a little girl smoking and the aim of this image is to raise awareness to people who smoke. If it looks bad that a little girl is smoking, why doesn't it look bad when an older person is smoking when they are doing exactly the same thing.
